Thoughts from the Word by William Behrman

Through the years that Ginger and I have been together, we have foreseen and planned for many events: Births of children, vacations, the purchase of homes, etc. When you spend a lifetime with the one you love, the beginning years are in notebook form. With the passing of time, it becomes a book. As the years lengthen and a plethora of events takes place, we log in pages that turn into volumes. Within these pages emerges a history of happy times, tough times, routine everyday life, and amazing unforgettable events that make up the tapestry of two lives of mutual commitment. Yet there are realities of life that we put aside and to which we give but little attention. What is taking place at this time is one of these realities. For several days we have been gathering around Ginger’s bed, reading the word and praying and praising the Lord.

Those in our family and others near us are now celebrating the homegoing of one of the most important women in our lives. At 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, Ginger slipped away from her body into the presence of the Lord. All her kids were present, Patsy, though in Australia, was here via the internet. Following her passing, we all rejoiced for several minutes as we celebrated her entrance into heaven.

We will lay to rest the body of Ginger in a few days. We will post the date and time on Facebook as soon as the arrangements are made. She has captivated my heart for seventy-seven years. Nearly sixty-nine of those years as my wife. This precious lady has been my sweetheart, dearest friend, faithful wife, ministry co-worker and lifetime companion. All our family is unified in faith. These have been difficult but very precious days as we have gathered at Ginger’s bedside. The comfort we are now receiving comes from our confident trust in the faithfulness of our Lord and His word.

We take this opportunity to say a big thanks for all your prayers and support for Ginger and our family. We are so thankful for the body of Christ and your coming alongside us at this time and in the past. We love you!

I continue to be deeply enriched with fresh new revelations of the depth of your love Dad and Mom for one another, a multifaceted Love Story written by the very Lover of your souls Himself! Because of your union with Him and in Him….your roots have intertwined with the many thousands of those all around the world who have received the Lifeline cast out to them and therefore have been rescued as you were. Your story is perpetual, being forever written to encompass yet another tiny little one..(great grandchild) being gathered into our familyhood and calling….one more into the amazing Family of God!
I love Dad how you are filling your remaining days with His purpose….yes, one more day! You’re both teaching us still that to live is Christ!! Dying is gaining. Mom has become the forerunner in our family of “gaining!”
