Living in Anticipation of the Advent

Both Simeon, the priest, and ancient Anna lived in expectation of the promised Messiah. What a joyful moment for them to see and recognize the infant Christ child. Likewise, the recipients of the “crown of righteousness,” the blood-washed saints who love his appearing will joyously welcome his second advent. Today will mark the first Christmas I will celebrate without Ginger. She has already seen the Lord in his glory, the wonders of our Savior’s presence, and the dwelling place he has prepared for us. Then together, we will thrill at the sight of the One who loved us and redeemed us through his precious blood. We, as a family, will notice her empty chair. She is and will be greatly missed. Yet God’s word is true and faithful. We shall join in that glad song of redemption around his throne. We shall dwell together on a new earth where a King shall reign in righteousness. We so appreciate and love our dear family. Some of them are here with us. Beyond family ties, we are bound together by the love of Christ. We will finish our race here on earth with joy in the living hope of seeing Jesus face to face. We shall hold and embrace dear ones again. We live in great anticipation of that wonderful day. To be present with Christ is far better.
