I’m missing my sweetheart tonight. On this Thanksgiving Evening, I am extremely thankful for Ginger and the pledges we made to each other nearly 69 years ago. I cherish each memory of lingering thoughts, casual conversations, incidents that took place. Of her reminder when I went to town , ”Get some milk!”
I am thankful for her love, her loyalty, her commitment of life to her Lord, her husband and her family. I am thankful for the fruit of the Spirit that was manifest in her life. She was my sidekick, my companion in travel. She brought out the best in me and and made made me look good. She sewed for the kids, ironed my shirts and was my barber. She cried the first time she gave me a GI haircut.
Her input and her presence in our church made an attractive place for the saints to gather. She was an anointea teacher of God’s word. She would put her heart and soul into the production of community musicals and dramas.
i would look at her, seated next to me, on many of our little drives, and say: “I sure like being being with you.” I miss those little drives but i’m sure i’ll be saying it again in the presence of our Lord!
